How Much Does a Photographer Cost in Little Rock? What $100 to $500 Gets You

If you've ever searched for a photographer and felt like prices were a mystery, you're not alone. Many photographers don't list their rates, and the ones who do can range from surprisingly low to eye-watering. So let's talk about it openly.

My sessions run from $100 to $500, depending on which type of session you choose. Here's what goes into that range, what to look for when comparing photographers, and why I keep my pricing accessible on purpose.

Why photography prices vary so much

When you book a photographer, you're paying for much more than the hour they spend with a camera. A single session usually includes:

  • Planning time: talking through your ideas, scouting locations, and prepping.

  • The session itself: shooting, directing, and keeping things comfortable.

  • Editing: sorting through hundreds of images, choosing the best, and retouching them.

  • Delivery: building your gallery and getting it to you.

  • Equipment and experience: cameras, lenses, software, and years of learning.

Those costs are real, and they add up. That's why you'll see wide differences in what photographers charge. In many markets, a portrait session runs a few hundred dollars and up, and it climbs quickly from there for weddings and larger events.

What affects the price of a session

The main things that move the price up or down are:

  1. The type of session. A solo portrait or headshot session is simpler than a multi-person family session, a creative studio shoot, or event coverage.

  2. How long we shoot. More time means more variety and more editing.

  3. How many people are involved. Bigger groups take more planning and more direction.

  4. How many edited photos you receive. Fully retouched images take time, so more of them cost more.

  5. Location and travel. A shoot in your neighborhood differs from one that requires a long drive or special access.

I'll always walk you through the options before you book, so you know what you're getting and what it costs. No surprises.

What's included in a portrait session

Here's what a standard portrait session with me includes:

  • Time: about an hour of shooting.

  • Location: outdoors or on-site in Little Rock, Benton, or Conway.

  • Deliverables: a full album of original images, plus up to 10 high-end retouched images.

  • Turnaround: delivery in about one week through a private online gallery.

  • Outfits: up to two looks.

Portrait sessions start at $100. For other session types, like creative sessions, events, or duos and families, the details and pricing vary. You can find an overview on each service page, or send me a message and I'll give you a quick, honest quote.

Why my prices are accessible on purpose

I started this business because I wanted people to have photos that feel like their real lives, without paying a fortune or sitting through a stiff, staged shoot. Great photography shouldn't be a luxury.

My clients notice this. Christen, who booked a session for her daughter, said, "You get quality work for a lot less than what most photographers charge." Carson told me, "He's the most affordable photographer in the area, so for once you don't have to sacrifice quality for the good price." And Kaitlyn wrote, "The photos are extremely affordable but they are seriously priceless."

I take that last one as the highest compliment. I don't want my pricing to be the only reason you book me. But I do want it to remove the reason not to.

Affordable doesn't mean cheap

It's easy to assume that a lower price means lower quality, so let me be direct: it doesn't have to. Here's what you still get with me:

  • A real planning conversation before your session, including a Pinterest board if you'd like one.

  • Gentle, thoughtful direction during the shoot.

  • Careful editing with a warm, natural look.

  • A fast delivery and a follow-up to make sure you're happy.

Marilyn, who booked me for her grandaughter’s quinceañera, wrote, "He is a great photographer with a really reasonable price." That's the balance I aim for every time.

Questions to ask any photographer before you book

Whether you choose me or someone else, these questions will help you compare fairly:

  1. What exactly is included in the price?

  2. How many edited photos will I receive, and in what format?

  3. How long until I get my gallery?

  4. Are there extra fees for travel, extra outfits, or extra people?

  5. Can I see examples of your work from sessions like mine?

  6. What happens if I need to reschedule?

A good photographer will answer all of these without hesitation. If someone dodges, that's worth noticing.

Ways to save

If you're watching your budget, there are a few simple ways to stretch it:

  • Share a session with a friend. Duo sessions are a great way to split the experience.

  • Refer a friend. If you've booked with me before, I take $20 off your next session when someone you refer books.

  • Ask about options. If you have a specific budget in mind, tell me. I'll do my best to work with you.

The bottom line

The best photographer for you is someone you feel comfortable with, whose style you love, and whose price fits your budget. I hope I check all three boxes.
